Lynne Forrester, Artist: Hello
I paint and draw in oodles of ways, but I mainly create cloudscapes and landscapes inspired by the stunning scenery where I'm lucky to live on the Isle of Skye, UK. It's my aim to capture what you see and what you feel when you look up at a mesmerising sky, or out at a beautiful landscape.

You know when you look up and see the most gorgeous sunset you've ever seen? Remember how that feels, where you were, who you were with, and most importantly, that sense of wonder at how something so amazing could just form all by itself? That's my inspirational aim: to paint pictures that combine what I see with how I feel when I see it.

There's lots of other ways I flex my creative muscles: figurative art, abstracts, mixed media and small detailed ink works. I find I create intuitively, often tuning into the energy from whatever or whoever I'm painting.

I write online journal posts after finishing each painting. Some of those form in my head whilst I'm working on the picture, but mostly they arrive out of my fingers onto the keyboard just as I'm reflecting on the piece. I usually derive the name of the painting from those posts. You can see these posts, together with all my latest drawings and paintings by going to my Journal page.

I did loads of things before becoming a full-time artist. Don't get me wrong, I've always been creative and have created in  artistic, literary or musical ways but always in the time left after work. My initial art training took place after my Cultural Studies degree in London, at the School of Art (University of Wales, Aberystwyth) whilst I was working as a secretary in the nearby hospital. Aberystwyth was a great place to explore so many areas and I'm interested in many things. I studied Women's Studies and progressed to gain a MA in Literary Studies.  We've moved around a lot and I've worked in seemingly unartistic professions but always managed to weave creative elements through them, whether working in an office or pharmaceutical sales.

In fact I thought I'd always work in pharmaceutical sales. I had specialised in HIV (a medical area which I was and am still passionate about) and was working for a company and with people I loved. I was privileged to work with amazing healthcare professionals who taught me so much and whom I have the greatest respect for. I also
continued to study and practice drawing and painting over the years, being honoured to work with incredibly talented teachers and artists.

Life inevitably changes though and I was no exception. I was diagnosed with an inner ear disorder (SCDS) which meant that my health deteriorated gradually and I could no longer work in that profession. My husband and I had been holidaying on and around the Isle of Skye for years and always wondered about possibly moving here.  Following some major surgery on my head, it seemed natural for us to make the move here. We love it - and I get the chance to be an artist for a living! I treasure the time I spent in other roles, they all contribute to the skills I have now.

That dream I had of being an artist when I was little has made it's way to me :)

I also have a Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/lynneforrester) to give people the chance to join my membership and support my work on a regular basis from just $3/month - you'll receive a whole load of lovely things in return and get to see my daily drawings that no-one else sees.

Patreon is a way of facilitating people like you to support creators so that we can carry on creating.  I
love being an artist and would be delighted if you'd help me to achieve my dreams. If you choose to pledge, I would be utterly thrilled - whatever level you decide upon will invoke the happiest of dances from me .
