Here are some of my life drawings from last week - feels like I'm getting into the swing of things: Sunday 5 April: Aylssa (Drawing Life) 8 April: Shibari (Reconfigurative) This session featured models using the Japanese rope form of Shibari. You can see an abstract drawing here. I haven't made the other images publicly accessible here because I couldn't bear to offend or trigger anyone. Even though the drawing session featured completely consensual models, some may find my other drawings difficult. If you would like to see them, please send me a message via my contact form and I'll email them to you directly. 9 April: Trixie-Divine (Drawing Life)
Last week was a life drawing-filled one as I tried different organisers and organisations. One of the organisers said something that resonated. It was a flyaway comment at the end of the session: 'I guess it doesn't matter to you guys if you're not in the room with the models'. This particular session was complied of several pre-recorded videos of life models posing for a specific amount of time. Other sessions with other organisers were streamed live and you could see the model changing poses, working out the angles for the camera, deciding how they felt comfortable - essentially giving tiny bits of information about how their bodies move, work and sit. Those parts are important to me. I may not be in the same room but I can get a sense of the model if they're moving and talking before and between poses. I was trying to work out why I couldn't get into the flow with the pre-recorded videos: was it the poses? was it my laptop screen? did I have my easel set up differently? It was that flyaway comment that made me realise the reason. Different things work for different artists, and it seems that I like to feel the human vibes of the model coming through the camera, not usually in their poses but in the in-between moments. So, now I've explored the different sessions available, this week will be more honed. The sketches below are from last week - can you guess which ones are from the pre-recorded videos session? Sunday 29 March: Aylssa (Drawing Life) Monday 30 March (All The Young Nudes) Wednesday 1 April: Maxime (Reconfigurative) Thursday 2 March: Elke (Drawing Life)
