A change in picture composition this time - the three islands to the foreground (Isay, Mingay and Clett) have quite a distinctive significance locally, and I managed to catch them at sunset along with North Uist. A boat decided to make it's way across at the same time. This is pretty unusual that late at night (sunsets are now lasting until after 10.30pm here), but I love seeing them sail past when I'm drawing so they have to be included. This was done on the larger 40x30cm paper.
These larger drawings will make their way into the online shop this week as I mount and load them. Have happy weeks everyone :) The sun was still setting at past 10pm here last night and I was working speedily to catch the colours on paper. In the last few weeks the sun has moved swiftly across so it's setting further and further north (now towards Berneray and South Harris rather than North Uist - for those who like to know a geographical location). That means the colour is intensifying nearer Harris, as in the left-hand picture -that's my first picture of Harris this summer. Loving the corresponding blues that the sea develops in response to the intense reds. Really lovely to witness and attempt to capture.
These pictures will be mounted and for sale in the online shop tomorrow - http://www.lynneforrester.com/store/c7/Landscapes.html The warmth that everyone in England talked of last week has arrived here on Skye - Yay! With that, beautiful sunsets for me to draw. The picture on the left was actually done during the day but there's been some soft pinks in the sky over the last few days (not sure if you can get faint hues of the aurora borealis during the day, the magnetic readings have been really high, but that's what I saw). Couldn't get the colours of the middle picture to make the photo do it justice, but suffice to say it was the reddest sunset I've ever seen. :)
Don't forget, you can sign up to receive my blog posts to your inbox if that's easier for you - and, if you go to the homepage of my website (http://www.lynneforrester.com) and subscribe to the newsletters, you'll receive a FREE illustrated recipe booklet to download. The sunshine visited yesterday! This was drawn at around 9.30pm when the sun thought it would visit another land.
Also been loading some more pictures onto the online shop (http://www.lynneforrester.com/shop). Have started to mount the landscapes that aren't framed and put them for sale - keep an eye out for new listings in the Landscapes section! Happy Saturdays everyone :) Writing to you from a cold and blustery Isle of Skye (Lynne's Art Shed is open though should you be passing!). Managed to capture a few sun-downs through the clouds this week. I'm getting more courageous with the clouds now - possibly as they're so dramatically defined they're daring me to have a go at drawing them in all their splendour. I also have drawings from the latest life drawing workshop where we had the fabulously curvaceous Christiana to draw. So lovely and I found myself working really swiftly to try and get an abstract and a life drawing from most of the poses, especially as the day wore on and I got faster. I found myself working in small colour themes. Putting pictures together is a new thing for me, usually I see them as stand along pieces. Let me know what you think!
