Back-combed Plumage

Great back-combed plumage mounds climb the skies to show off their voluminous finery. The bright brilliance of the sun's goodbye to the day highlights their every curve, exploding the sky into a feather-ruffled, flamingo-pink abundance.
(I'm intending to show 'Open Hearts' in the Society of Scottish Artists 30x30 exhibition where it will be on sale there, more details to follow - fingers crossed it's dry in time!)
Open Hearts

Warming rays nudge the floating puffs into stretching their limbs and opening their hearts towards those balmy tones. Blissfully unfurling each tendril of their beings, allowing the setting sun to simply hold them as they fill the skies - their brooding greys are lightened momentarily and the rain is delayed for a later moment.
