Feisty rays sought to be seen in streaks and splotches across the sky as the sun opened a sleepy eyelid, stretched and started to rise. The thick grey covers reluctantly slipped aside to briefly let the colour have their stage-time. Deep pinks and oranges basked in their new-found spotlight, like a flock of flamingos swimming in a murky lake - their vividity bringing a bright beauty to the grey and lighting up the world.
